“The plain fact is that the planet does not need more “successful people”. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and human, and these qualities have little to do with success as our culture has defined it.” ~David Orr

Full Moon
March 27, 2013
It’s a full moon tonight. I’m not sure what it is about full moons, but it’s always my preference to be home, have some time alone and just be. Perhaps one day I’ll figure it out.
From The Rime of the Acient Mariner
The moving Moon went up the sky.
And nowhere did abide;
Softly she was going up,
And a star or two beside-

Linda Tucker: Mystery of the White Lions
March 25, 2013
“Our route toward spiritual evolution is radiantly clear. We all have our own unique individual journey to walk toward enlightenment. Living on the brink of evolutionary change means that new ground is being broken and new consciousness is being raised. Truth is of the essence – we have no dogma, no set formula, no prescribed rules, no false standards to follow. All we have is the truth within our souls. I believe most of us want to follow the light, the path of healing and not destroying our earth, but we don’t have the courage, the lion heart, to follow our individual truth toward enlightenment. Giving in to our fears, we bury our “gold” beneath the false value systems of our societies, and we attempt to comfort ourselves with the notion that we have no power or responsibility for what is happening to our world. The reality is that, potentially, we all have the power of light – the White Lion – within us. The very first step is to overcome our fears. Thereafter, our hearts will lead the way.”

Queen Latifah – Weekend Love
March 18, 2013
I like rap music. I feel like I’m in a confessional. But I do. Naughty by Nature, Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Wreckx-N-Effect, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Hammer, Paperboy, Run DMC (of course), Lighter Shade of Brown…. the list goes on and on. And I like a ‘plethora’ of rap music. So, I thought I would post a… it’s not really a rap song, but, by a high quality rapper, singer and actress. 🙂

Roberto Carlos – Camionero
March 11, 2013
I lived in Miami, Florida for a few years and during that time I listened quite a bit to the Spanish Radio. This song, by Roberto Carlos played frequently. It’s amazing how music can transport one to another place and time. I have good memories of Miami and I’m quite fond of this song. Happy times! It’s an old song and the recording is kind of fuzzy, but I still love it!

Caroline Myss: Sacred Contracts and Dreams
March 8, 2013
I‘ve been reading ‘Sacred Contracts‘ by Caroline Myss and since I’ve gotten deeper into the readings I’ve been having some really vivid dreams. I have many of flying and those are some of my favorite dreams to date. Some of these images reminded me of these fantastic dreams so I thought I would post. In conjunction to the Caroline Myss book I am also reading ‘A Course in Miracles‘. I thought I’d post some quotes from that book as well.
Let forgiveness be the substitute for fear. This is the only rule for happy dreams.
Let your self be one with something beyond it
There is nothing outside you
The miracle but calls your ancient name
Every choice you make establishes your own identity as you will see it and believe it is.
(quotes from ‘A Course in Miracles‘)

Alison Mackie – Artwork
March 5, 2013
These images are by artist Alison Mackie. She’s also the author of The Gypsy Chronicles. Alison is a pretty incredible talent. I enjoyed her book and I love these images — so I had to post. I hope to travel to Spain this summer and these images remind me of Spain, flamenco and my love for both. The Festival de Jerez is taking place so it seems appropriate to add some letras por bulerías from that region. There’s a great resource where I found the below verses, along with a mountain of more flamenco letras. Please visit: Letras de Flamenco
Tengo una puerta en mi alma
que no necesita llave
yo la tengo siempre abierta
y no me la cierra nadie
Cuando salga la luna
yo voy a verte
porque me alumbra el camino
gitana mia
pa yo quererte
Cuatro pare francisco
cuatro del carmen
cuatro de la victoria
vaya que si, son doce frailes.
Era por eso
solito por eso
guarda los limones que tiene tu huerto
Me tiraste un limón
que si ma dado en la frente
eso lo hace el amor
flamenquita los que sienten
ay que te quiero
te quiero te quiero
que de vergüenza
y no te lo peno
Thank you for your inspiration, Alison Mackie and for sharing your artistry with the world.
Sincerely,
