I’ve come to realize that the only way I can truly give to others is by having the ability to love myself. One can only give what one has. With love you can heal the world.

I think over again my small adventures, my fears, those small ones that seemed so big, all those vital things I had to get and to reach, and yet there is only one great thing; to live and see the great day that dawns, and the light that fills the world.

I want first of all to be at peace with myself.
I want a singleness of eye, a purity of intention,
A central core to my life that will enable me
To carry out these obligations and activities as well as I can.
I want, in fact, to borrow from the language of the saints :
To live ‘in grace’ as much of the time as possible.
I am not using this term in a strictly theological sense.
By grace I mean an inner harmony, essentially spiritual,
Of which can be translated into outward harmony.
I am seeking perhaps what Socrates asked for
In the prayer from the Phaedrus when he said,
“May the outward and inward man be One.”
I would like to achieve a state of inner spiritual grace
From which I could function and give
As I was meant to in the eye of God.

Sutta Nipata

The one who wanders independent in the world,
free from opinions and viewpoints,
does not grasp them and enter
into disputations and arguments.

As the lotus rises on its stalk
unsoiled by the mud and the water,
so the wise one speaks of peace and
is unstained by the opinions of the world.

Ignorance can be compared to a dark room in which you sleep. No matter how long the room has been dark, an hour or a million years, the moment the lamp of awareness is lit the entire room becomes luminous.

You are that luminosity. You are that clear light.

Throw yourself like a seed.

Shake off this sadness and recover your spirit.

Sluggish you will never see the wheel of fate

that brushes your heel as it turns going by.

May my life be one of gratitude and joy. May I never become the story of past injustices done to me or my people, but surviving and thriving despite injustices done to me and my people. May I live a life of healing and may I wake up seeing the world anew each day. May I always remember that I am taken care of, watched over and loved. May my life be a song and a memory of love when it is over.

May you awaken to the mystery of being here
and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
May you have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
May you receive great encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
May you respond to the call of your gift and find the courage to follow its path.
May the flame of anger free you from falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame and may anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul.
May you take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.
May you be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.

Twists and Turns
I may never know
the twists and turns
you have taken
on your path

I may never know
the dark nights
of your soul
or the irritants
that sourced your pearls
I may never know
the turmoil
you have endured
or the bliss
you have embraced
to become who you are
but I do know
these unknown parts of you
twisted and turned
in the great wheel of life
allowed you to lead me now
to the gates of the garden

for through you
I have learned
to embrace the turmoil
to endure even the bliss
of my life
as I work the irritants
into pearls of my own
And you may never know
the gratitude I feel
for the gifts you have given
because it cannot be conveyed
in a hug
or contained
in a “thank You”
but it will go with me
on all the twists and turns
of my own path
and it will grow with me
through all the years to come
in the garden
of my becoming
