Eckhart Tolle ~ Reflection

January 15, 2014

Even a stone, and more easily a flower or a bird, could show you the way back to God, to the Source, to yourself. When you look at it or hold it & let it be without imposing a word or mental label on it, a sense of awe, of wonder, arises within you. Its essence silently communicates itself to you and reflects your own essence back to you.

The highest good is like water.
Water gives life to ten thousand things
and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so it is like the Tao.

In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be just.
In daily life, be competent.
In action, be aware of the time and the season.

No fight: No blame.

Tao Te Ching, Verse 8

2014 ~ Lena Jacome

January 10, 2014

Dear Sweet Friends,

Thank you so much for visiting my site and sending such kind and generous comments. I sincerely appreciate your time and energy! 2013 was a good year. I invested more time into this blog site and feel content with it’s evolution.

2013 provided some surprising challenges. When something traumatic happens to us, it’s hard to make sense of it all. For the first time in my life I experienced a complete paradigm shift. I went from feeling victimized, as if the Universe was ‘doing this too me’ from realizing that the Universe was ‘doing this for me’ and presenting an opportunity for me to heal. I felt deeply humbled and loved. I think my blogging (in addition to meditation, prayer, spiritual counseling, nutritional changes, books, journaling and more…) has helped facilitate this shift in my life. I have much gratitude for all my experiences in 2013. I am EXTREMELY excited about 2014. As every year passes, I get to know myself a little more, dig a little deeper and find more strength, courage and peace within. I’m eternally grateful to have the life I have. It is a true gift to be alive!

Moms Search for Meaning Viktor FranklViktor Frankl: Man’s Search for Meaning

Continue practicing until you see yourself in the cruelest person on Earth, in the child starving, in the political prisoner. Practice until you recognize yourself in everyone in the supermarket, on the street corner, in a concentration camp, on a leaf, in a dewdrop. Meditate until you see yourself in a speck of dust in a distant galaxy. See and listen with the whole of your being.

If you are fully present, the rain of Dharma will water the deepest seeds in your consciousness, and tomorrow, while you are washing the dishes or looking at the blue sky, that seed will spring forth, and love and understanding will appear as a beautiful flower.

Silence is of four kinds:

Silence of speech,
Silence of the eye,
Silence of the ear, and
Silence of the mind.

Only the last is Pure Silence,
and is the most important.

Wendell Berry

I go among trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet
around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
where I left them, asleep like cattle.

Then what is afraid of me comes
and lives a while in my sight.
What it fears in me leaves me,
and the fear of me leaves it.
It sings, and I hear its song.

Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
and the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.

After days of labor,
mute in my consternations,
I hear my song at last,
and I sing it. As we sing,
the day turns, the trees move.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out
in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor,
every atom of me in magnificent glow,
than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of humans is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.

I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.

Alan Watts – Apple Tree

December 13, 2013

Look, here is a tree in the garden and every summer it produces apples, and we call it an apple tree because the tree “apples.” That’s what it does. Alright, now here is a solar system inside a galaxy, and one of the peculiarities of this solar system is that at least on the planet earth, the thing peoples! In just the same way that an apple tree apples!

What I am really saying is that you don’t need to do anything, because if you see yourself in the correct way, you are all as much extraordinary phenomenon of Nature as trees, clouds, the patterns in running water, the flickering of fire, the arrangement of the stars, and the form of a galaxy. You are all just like that…
